PRO-LIMB-NET e. V.
Patient network with a focus on limb preservation
As part of the concept phase of the TTDO-DFU-CoCo project, we set up a network(PRO-LIMB-NET e. V.). People who are at risk of developing a chronic wound (e.g. people with diabetes mellitus), already have a chronic wound or have already undergone bone and soft tissue reconstruction can come together in this network. Carers and relatives are also welcome to join the network. The PRO-LIMB-NET e. V. offers an opportunity for networking and exchange, so that those affected are not alone with their health problems and can share experiences with each other.
In addition, a patient advisory board is integrated within the patient network. Its function is to advise on scientific research projects relating to diabetes mellitus, the treatment of chronic wounds and/or limb preservation. In this way, patients can share their perspectives and realities with researchers, which leads to greater practical relevance in research projects. This participatory research approach has proven its worth in numerous study concepts in various specialist disciplines and, with the effective involvement of patients and their caregivers, has had a positive impact on key success parameters.
